According to authorities, officers with the Richmond Police Department responded at approximately 9:41 p.m. to the 1300 block of St. Peter Street after receiving reports of a shooting in the area. When officers arrived at the scene, they located Markese Callahan-Davis suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency responders quickly worked to provide aid, and Callahan-Davis was transported to a nearby hospital where medical staff immediately began lifesaving efforts in hopes of saving the young man’s life. Despite those efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.
Officials say the Medical Examiner will determine the official cause and manner of death as part of the ongoing investigation.
Detectives with the Richmond Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit responded to the scene and began speaking with individuals in the area as they worked to gather information about the events that led to the tragic shooting. At this time, investigators have stated that they are not currently looking for any suspects in connection with the incident.
