Jessica G. Cannatella Head-On Crash St. Tammany Parish Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory

The St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana community is mourning the tragic loss of 47-year-old Jessica G. Cannatella of Ponchatoula, who died following a devastating two-vehicle crash on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.

According to the Louisiana State Police, troopers from Troop L responded around 2:30 p.m. to a crash on LA Highway 1085 near Alice Street in Covington. The preliminary investigation revealed that Cannatella was driving a 1999 Jeep Cherokee southbound when a 2014 Nissan Murano traveling northbound crossed the center line and struck her vehicle head-on.

Cannatella, who was not wearing a seatbelt, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later died. The driver of the Nissan, 38-year-old Holly M. Williams of Abita Springs, who was properly restrained, suffered moderate injuries and was also taken to the hospital. A front-seat passenger in the Nissan, who was unrestrained, sustained moderate injuries as well.

Authorities reported that Williams showed signs of impairment at the scene and was subsequently arrested. Upon her release from the hospital, she is expected to be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Facility on multiple charges, including vehicular homicide, vehicular negligent injury, and driving while intoxicated (third offense), among others. Toxicology samples were collected as part of the ongoing investigation.

Officials continue to investigate the crash and are urging motorists to avoid impaired driving and always wear seatbelts.

Jessica G. Cannatella’s passing has left her family, friends, and the Ponchatoula community grieving a life lost far too soon. Her memory will be cherished by those who loved her, and the community will forever remember her spirit.
