Demita Joann Jackson Tragic Crash Buckingham County Death, Obituary: In Loving Memory

The Buckingham County, Virginia community is mourning the tragic loss of 64-year-old Demita Joann Jackson of Dillwyn, who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Monday evening, March 16, 2026.

According to the Virginia State Police, the crash occurred around 8:06 p.m. on Constitution Road, just north of Slate River Mill Road. Jackson was driving a 2018 Chevrolet Equinox southbound when she encountered hazardous conditions caused by severe weather. Her vehicle struck the upper branches of a downed tree partially obstructing the roadway. Low visibility and adverse weather caused her to lose control, run off the right side of the road, and collide with another tree.

Demita Jackson, who was wearing a seatbelt, was the sole occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation as authorities work to fully understand the circumstances.
